Yesterday in vancouver there was a rally of a few dozen vapers primarily from the facebook group bc vapers. The rally was to show our concern for the vancouver bylaws that were put into effect i believe back at the end of 2014. Not much was really done from the city since that point until about 2 weeks ago when many shops in downtown Vancouver were given letters advising them of the bylaws and they should not be vaping in the shops. If they were caught the shop would receive a fine of 500$ and the customer caught vaping in the shop would receive a fine of 250$.

The group rallied on burrard street bridge at about 8am on june 2 2016 to bring awareness of this to the community. CTV news attended and it was broadcast at the noon news hour.

Vancouver coastal health which enforces tobacco for the rest of the vancouver region stated on the phone to me that they take a different approach. They are waiting for the provincial bill to come into effect before making any decisions what to do. So for any shops in the Vancouver coastal health regions for now you are safe.

This is the start of something for vancouver shops.... what's going to happen i suppose we wait and see.
The rally was put on by the new advocacy group in BC called Canadian vaping rights coalition :https://www.facebook.com/CVRCPage/?fref=ts
