A clearo (or carto) should never, ever, ever be dry fired.

All dry firing (dry burning) does is fire up the heating element and warm the wick (either to restore an atty or increase it's vaporizing efficiency). On clearos and cartos the heat is then directed to the wicks, which vaporize whatever liquid has absorbed into them. If those wicks are dry - you're actually burning them in the process and adding a pretty nasty chemical cocktail to any vapor produced by those wicks in the future (if they persist and still work afterwards).

When the wicks are wire, mesh or other metal (like in a bridged, rebuildable or even bridgeless) - the metal will tolerate the super heating much better, but not always. It can kill your atomizer. I know a few people still do it, and even swear by it, but if you are looking for best performance and longevity - place a few drops of straight PG onto the wick and burn that. It vaporizes lightening fast, leaves very little residue and transfers heat in a more efficient manner.

They tried to bury us. Guess they didn't know we were seeds.

I am going to politely disagree. I have been dry firing my wicks and coils since I started vaping. The wick in the clearos I'm referring to won't "burn" as they are silica. I have many vid tutorials on you tube teaching vapers how to maintain their devices so they don't have to buy replacement coils. The more you maintain your clearos the better they perform.

I'm going to be the contrary one and say that I like my iclear 30's, with the one caveat that I find the coil heads do not last as long as others. They seem to get gunked up a lot faster. And I hate the hassle of cleaning and dry burning so I toss 'em at that point.

I default to Vivi Nova as tasting the best, but even they have problems sometimes. In my search for the ultimate clearomizer, there are still a couple out there I haven't tried yet, but I'm working my way through them!

One day I will find the best; the one that always works, never leaks, never shorts, never dry hits and never spits juice into my mouth. It will happen. I have faith.

I have been having the problem firing mine lately. The ohmeter on the MVP says the resistance is non or 0.7 instead of the 2.2-2.5 it should be. I've only run about 4 or 5 tanks through them when this started happening so I boiled them to clean them out then wiggled the wicks a little and let them dry and one kinda works now and the other works fairly well. I have a 5 pack of coils on the way and once that's done I'm going to give up on them most likely. I will say they do produce nice flavor and ample vapor with fruit juices but I don't like how fiddly they are.

i30's have always given me the same weird metallic taste that others have described. Thorough cleaning does nothing. You definitely have to do a lot of tip and tilt. They seem to work okay with heavy heavy banana juices in my personal experience. (Something about that makes them seem tolerable?). I would say get some Aspire's but, until they solve the "one out of three heads works great." problem, it's not worth it. But man....when that one head works well....clearo-bliss.
