When i created wackedout i created it for the Canadian population mostly. If i were to have created it as a international or north american it would have got alot busier but it would have lost the "canadian" touch. Facebook i think is just more convenient for people but has it's limitations as far as keeping information around for people to read. In a busy facebook group if you post something important good luck trying to find it in a few days.

I'll always be around and i get my spurts of active and away for a period just because of busy life..... I took a quick look at the stats and while maybe the participation is lower then all around hits on the site has not dropped that much in the last 6 months. More lurkers.. readers...

Turning the lurkers into active posters is the hardest part about a forum.. been doing this for a long time and it's always been the challenge.

If i were open up wackedout canada into a international platform it would certainly get the exposure up and the registration.. but lose the canadian aspect which is why it was created in the first place.

People come and go... research and learn and move on... some lifers...etc... that's a forum. Especially for a more niche canadian one.

One thing I really like is when new vapers ask questions that have been answered many times before, instead of the grumpy 'look it up' attitude they get almost swarmed with helpful replies. It's a Canadian thing I guess. Thanks for this forum @Nicklfire

Shawn knew what he was doing when he picked the name, it was smart actually.

In the internet world if you call yourself "The e-cigarette forum" you get lost in a search page with everything e-cigarette. Calling yourself "AAAA Awesome Plumbing by Burt" was the old school get yourself to the top of paper Yellow Page phone book. Something like "wacked out" is the same for search engines. Same logic behind Google, Twitter, Facebook, Tinder ect ect. made up words to separate yourself from the noise of generic terms and define your brand.

As for a Canadian forum vs an International forum, sometimes it makes more sense to be the number 1 forum in Canada rather than a low ranking one of many international forums. Plus the workload of a forum that attracts attention from all over the world is much higher, but would provide little to no benefit for the Canadian market.

Watch and learn from everything Shawn has done, he really has done an excellent job. Back when this forum started it went from an unknown to the largest forum in Canada literally overnight. That is a huge accomplishment.

Understood. What I was thinking about was a move away from a title with the word "cigarette". Also sometimes a rebranding attracts attention.

One of the most detrimental words to our industry.

Unfortunately one that is next to impossible to move away from. Newbie are goggling "e-cigarette" so you have to be there, and by being there your are inforcing the continued use of the word... Viscous cycle.

Could incorporate the word Vaping though? Even leave e-cig in there but correct it. For example there's a vendor called "It's Not Smoke, It's Just Vapour". A little wordy, but I like the sentiment the owner was trying to convey.

Do that and you are now lost in the weed vaporizers.

The forum has outgrown me. I have no intention of moving beyond a Protank II (or Tatroe tank) with a 1.5 Kanger coil on a fine mec mod. I am sure this rig will see me away. There are just fewer and fewer things of interest to me on the Forum, sad to say. Wackedout played an important part of my life and I appreciate all the work that went into making the forum possible. I have given up Fasttech and Wackedout will probably be next. Loved it while it lasted!

    Thanks all!

    Peace!
