Hey Nova Scotia May 31st is around the corner. What are you going to do.

Since NS's bill 60 comes into force in 10 days, are you ready for it?

There have been lots of big talkers dreaming that it really won't affect them, yes you CVA, Shai and others.. But now comes the time to put all that to the test..

Are you going to be opening your door on May 31st happily displaying products in dirrect violation of the law? Thats when the rubber meets the road and the dreams end.

I've got a feeling we are going to be able to hear a pin drop in this thread, and then a big foot come stomping down out of the sky on May 31st...

But hey NS, you can always order from us online

I'm sure they love you, too Rob.

As a consumer- I'm doing absolutely nothing differently. I will continue to vape like I do- not in your face, I'm outside most of the time and also can be stealthy if needed. Being self employed helps.
I have enough gear for a year. Including juice. So it's really not going to rock my world one way or the other right now. When things get real in Ontario is when things will really change, so I think I have an exit strategy if needed. I've vaped for 15 months as of yesterday- and will not smoke again- so I have already won the battle, even if the war is lost.

Don't know what CVA is doing or THRA or anyone else- we have to get to that date first and see what will happen.

Everyone else in NS- what are you going to do? Rob does have a valid point in that it's going to be different than it has been. I'm not sure what vape shops will do.

Sorry I should've specified that I was speaking to Nova Scotia vendors.

For vapers, there is nothing to worry about. There might be the inconvenience of no longer having your local store, but even if all hell freezes over there are 1 million different shops to order from from around the rest of the world.

Didn't mean to cause panic for everyone, just B&M vendors..

It's ok with me, it's a valid question and I think everyone needs to think about it, vapers and vendors included.
Vendors will have a very different reality on the 31 st.
Because of safety concerns, vendors with a conscience are going to need to figure out a legal way to troubleshoot and teach. That will mean disobeying the law (I think---this is only me saying it, and I have spoken to no vendors about it)

I use mainly eGo Ones and iSticks. They hang around my neck inside my shirt. I can have a vape, hold it in a couple seconds and no vapour escapes- so how do you police what you can't see? I've been smoking since I was 12, I knew how to sneakily smoke pretty much everywhere, but you could still smell it. This you can't smell- so how is Big Brother going to police me, other than having a drone follow me around? Which would be pretty boring.

It's a stupid, archaic law, and I think it will be business as usual in many vape shops. They haven't stopped head shops from selling anything- so how will they REALLY police all the vendors who pop up monthly?
    If you vape, vape.
Be careful, be respectful, and I think we'll survive in NS and elsewhere.

Laws are not "forever". They are not carved in stone. They do not supersede the human experience. They do not trump all.

    Keep fighting. Keep writing.

The people who wrote those laws won't be in power forever. And some of them will change their minds. Alter their views.

African Americans saw legal equality (and a black president) because they never gave up (and never should).
LGTB aren't seeing massive changes in existing laws cause they held their peace in closets around the globe.
Man didn't enter space by simply getting everything right the first time around.

We each have a municipal counsel. A provincial MLA / MPP. A Federal MP. All these governments may shore up their support and pass really bad laws (seemingly to appease silent partners sitting in their chambers). But you and I have a right to keep hassling them. To keep writing. To keep calling. To complain. To be heard.

There are far fewer vapers and vendors in NS. Too few. So, yes, it is a muted voice. For now. But just like with the rest of Canada - that voice can grow.

A province wide "voice-grow-op" will do no harm - and could do some tremendous good.

Eventually, the government will have to listen.

If i didn't know better Kat, I'd think you are preaching defiance

Other than the 3 comments from the 3 of us in the peanut gallery, I'm still hearing a pin drop.

I hope I'm not "preaching" anything.

But I'm not also not discouraging people from acting and going forward.

There are many ways to skin a cat. And we just happen to have a very big cat to skin.

Kudos to every single person, (and yes that includes Shai) who is fighting back.

We have a longer road ahead because we have some very crooked people in very high places. But that's no reason not to walk the road. Just means we may have some discouraging moments along the way. And that's okay.

It's not preaching. It's encouraging people who are down to not give up. And those discouraged to take a rest, then get up and keep on going.

All that optimistic, idealistic stuff is great.

But the task at hand right now it looking after our businesses and to do that we need to know what is going to happen.

Everyone is running around with the feel good, lets be a protester activist. Hey its fun. But the fun and games are over for those of us with a financial interested. Its time to start looking at reality, and that reality is we have laws against us that are coming into force, which is what this thread is about.

If I was only in this fight for the sake of my own business - it wouldn't be worth the headache. I'm educated and creative and could come up with a dozen different businesses to go into with greater chance of success.

Irrespective of how Electrovapors fares - this is a fight that needs to be fought. There is an injustice that needs to be reckoned.

In the next 12 months, 30,000 Canadian families will say goodbye to someone they loved, prematurely and preventable.

And then the next 12 months. And the next. And the next.

And tobacco companies will smile. In spite of all the hard work to shut them down, people still smoke. Kids are still taking up the habit. There are few who will escape. A handful. 4% or something ridiculously low like that.

And smokers live a life we don't want. A life we didn't consider when we took that first puff. A life shortened and maligned. Filled with additional anxiety over illnesses that will inevitably come.

    And that too is preventable.

And we have a government who is passing laws to stifle the prevention.

So with or without a business - I'm going to speak out. To write. To call. To encourage. To care. Pretty certain also, that the majority of vendors are not motivated by dollar signs.

Anyone else who doesn't think that's worth the headache. Okay. There are enough who do. And more joining everyday.

We take what we have and work forward from there.

That's irrelevant. The fact that I can have another business doesn't mean I can neglect my current busness in terms of not understanding the current legislation.

To expand on that I have others to worry about, employees, suppliers, customers, landlord/lease ect. So Nova Scotia with the near same legislation as Ontario is a foreshadow of what I will have to deal with - and I do have to deal with it.
