    Bill 45 Third Reading?

Anyone catch the webcast of the Third Reading..
The status is in Debate, and just hope that some sort of backlash was presented.

I know they have the numbers to just pass it.

Anyone have an update from this morning??

Consider it a done deal because that is what it is. 3rd reading is nothing more than a formality.

Legislative Assembly of Ontario | Debates & Proceedings | Debates (Hansard) | Official Records for 13 May 2015

Mr. Rick Nicholls: ...We, in the Progressive Conservatives, will, in fact, be supporting this bill.

Mr. Peter Tabuns: The NDP supports Bill 45 to help protect the health of families and young people...We support this bill, but it could have been much stronger if the Liberals had supported the NDP amendments.

And pretty much anything the Liberal MPs said was...diarrhea of the mouth. "We have listened to the concerns expressed by stakeholders, including specialty e-cigarette retailers, and any exemptions will be considered during the regulation-making process". - Dippi

Not sure what the status is, as the final line before the recess reads "Third reading debate deemed adjourned." followed by "The Acting Speaker (Mr. Paul Miller): It being close to 10:15, this House stands recessed until 10:30 this morning." No mention of it afterwards; they went straight into Ont Hydro.

There were some encouraging comments essentially suggesting they may lighten up on vape shops that are only entered by individuals 19+ but most of the discussion surrounded the other two schedules of the bill.

The bill is still in third reading. Until it has been sent to a vote, they will continue debating. I believe we only have 8 more days of parliament before adjourning for the summer as the next week is constituency week, so if we can get past these days the bill could get pushed to the side for a few months, especially if the Liberals feel they have other, more important things in front of them. This would of course only delay the inevitable. I think the only hope is that the Liberal party would be willing to consider some amendments as they have a majority government and about the only way this thing doesn't pass is if the Liberals are missing several members on the day voting takes place.

In second reading PC and NDP both said they would "support this bill" both almost unanimously voted against it in second reading, so I wouldn't look too far into that.

The next day the Legislative Assembly of Ontario meets again is May 25th and Bill 45 is one of the orders, but is not part of the orders of the day, so that is good news.

    The Debate is considered adjourned.

3rd reading debate is permitted to be very long. Usually each debater gets 1 hour to present. That didn't happen.
Each party agreed they would support the bill.

All that remains is for the a call for votes - and that's it. Once debate is "adjourned" the final vote can happen any time. I'm assuming it will be right after constituency week (though not on the 25th, cause the agenda is up for that day already). it will leave 7 days to be passed.

Once it is passed (I believe) - legal challenges can be discussed - but not before. I'm not 100% clear though on whether an actual legal challenge has to wait until the final formality of it becoming law (Royal assent). But the discussion can begin. The final formality doesn't take long though.

    Like I said inevitable.

What happened to our little PC buddy and his petition? All that work and he can't even get his party to vote against the bill??? What a douche.

Anyone care to wager with me that he votes for the bill? Need a bit of excitement here as we already know the ending of the rest here.
