    Removing counterfeit logos

    Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd pick your brains on something I've been wondering for a bit now as the somewhat-ashamed owner of a Nemesis and Chi You (brass) clone/counterfeit, I find myself very bothered (like many of us, it would seem) by the direct and blatant ripoff of the logos and brand of the original makers.

Has anyone experimented with sanding/coating/polishing out stamped or etched logos off a mod? I'd love to be able to just get rid of the markings altogether and have a slightly cleaner conscience. As beautiful as the logos and branding are; they don't deserve to be on a china knockoff in my opinion.

Please, lets try not to get dramatic about this and turn it into a debate about clones in general - this is a purely technical inquiry for people who know more about metal finishing than I do. I assume getting it plated would pretty much cover up everything invisibly; but I'd prefer to elbow-grease them off and retain the original stainless and brass finish.

    Thanks in advance, guys!

If I was in your position and wanted to get rid of the logos, I'd just put a sticker over it. It'd be challenging to remove a logo while matching the rest of the finishing.

Yeah, it's not like I won't use them with the logos, just if it's possible I'd prefer they be "brand-agnostic".

The chi might be a little more difficult, haven't seen the clones, but the legit one has a pretty deep engraving on the back. I've seen nemsis lose theirs by normal polishing.

The real chis have a pretty deep engraving, I handled a legit one last night when picking up the clone, as the vendor happened to have his at the shop.

However, the clones are definitely half-assed. It's no deeper than the nemesis is - maybe I should just grab some micro-grit sandpaper and polish and have at them. These are workhorses anyways, not like I spent a bundle on them.

Shame, because I want this brass to tarnish ASAP to get that nice patina.
