Thread: The Wacked Out Mixtape (Uh, and Sort of Juice Giveaway)

So you know how sometimes you have an idea and it seems good in your head, but then when it comes time to present it to people you're not quite so sure anymore?

Yeah, me either! Anyway, here's my totally rad idea!

Christmastime, I like to be as generous as is reasonable with my family, but it can be difficult sorting out presents for others without breaking the bank (especially when there are lots of others), and thus I am fond of making and gifting little music compilations for people. It's inexpensive, it requires little effort (which is not to say it requires little thought or care), and it goes a long way.

Of course, these mixtapes are my own creations based on my personal tastes, usually a summation of my favourite music that I've heard in a given year. As we are now three months away from Christmas, I'd like to do something similar here, but with a Wacked Out twist.

This thread will be devoted to the music that WO members love. What are you listening to today? What are your favourite songs of all time? What's making you dance? Making you cry? What's moving you, man?

New, old, mainstream, maddeningly obscure, this genre, that genre, whatever, whatever. Doesn't matter, friends.

Post as many songs as you like, however often you like. I'd only ask that everyone keep it to one song per post, so that we may let the Like button do the talking. Sometime round the beginning of December, I will compile the most popular of the lot -- if all goes well, this could end up being a multi-"album" set, possibly even split up into various categories (genre, era, etc). Who knows.

Once the compilations are made, I will do a draw, open to anyone who contributed music to the thread. The winner will receive their choice of digital or hard copies (or both), and I'll sweeten the deal by throwing in a juice package as well (exactly what it will look like is yet to be determined). Hopefully I'll have everything to you before Christmas. More than likely digis could go to anyone else who wants them.

And just so we don't get into any controversy over intellectual property, I will vow here and now to purchase any of the songs that I don't already own.

So yeah. That's it, really.

There's always a chance people could like this post but not the first song, so I'll kick things off on the first reply.

I can have somewhat wider tastes in music from popular to obscure or well outside the mainstream. But I figured I'd start with one of my favourite 80s rock tunes and my favourite Police track of all time: Synchronicity II.
