    Build a Genny they said......

Well with the luck I had building some great coils on my IGO L, I figured why not try a Genny. It'll be easy they said

First attempt: Stock RSST - 400 Mesh - Petar K Method.

    - This vaped great, so then I got bold and drilled out the RSST to 1/16th.

2nd attempt: Drilled RSST - 400 Mesh around SS rope. Have you ever had a dry hit off SS Rope? I would rather lick the pole at the budget strip club in the bad part of town twice.....okay 3 times! Holy Shit that is some nasty ass dry hit!!! Couldn't get this setup to wick well at all. Probably too much mesh I'm thinking.

    3rd attempt: Drilled RSST - 325 Mesh - Petar K method

Filled a tank with pearls, haven't had a dry hit yet, and can't wipe the shit eating grin off my face!!!

    Build a Genny they said......-photo-2-jpg

So questions: What wicks/has better capillary action? 325 or 500? I would have assumed 500 but I think I have it backwards

Top of wick - Leave open or pinch shut??

Fill plug: In or out? Make any difference??

I use 500 for all my juices and leave the top of wick open "tube style" fill plug always out it helps with wicking. But everyone's different and you'll find what you like after a few builds
    MODS= too many to list

SS wire rope with cotton or silica wrapped around the rope ,,, r-wire wrapped around the cotton/silica. I find that this works the best for me.
Like BK already stated, you need to figure out what gives you the best vape.

I'm with bk on this one. I leave the mesh straw like and also take out the fill plug, I find it wicks much better this way.

Odd that the cable was giving you dry hits, I found that it generally wick to much.

As a general rule how much room around a wick, regardless of material, does one leave when inserting into the wick hole?

if the wicks roughly the same size as the hole it won't leak much through the fill hole. Mine hardly does at all and it rides around in a knapsack half the time. From everything i've seen thicker juice less holes per inch thinner juice more holes per inch(i could have that backwards, i'm new to gennies too). I find 400 works good for everything i vaped on it so far. I tried out the pulse method from pbusardo's genny tutorial where he shows three ways to build a coil and it worked so good i don't think i'll ever go back to the peter k method. I do oxidize just the top of the wick first though.
i haven't tried a build on my rsst yet, easier than the agat+ or no?

I found I got a really metallic taste From my rssts. Now I ditch the fill plug and put some Eco wool in there. Just so it's about half way in the tank. Got rid of the metallic taste and as an added bonus you can leave it on its side for a min or two without any leaks.
