Seriously, is vaping so new that...

Absolutely nobody is manufacturing lightsaber styled mech mods? Surely I thought, the connection is so obvious, it's a given, the shape is natural and nerds and vaping go together like Han and Chewie. So when I decided today I want to try mech/rda, I thought it would be epic if I could get a lightsaber mech mod, so naturally I consulted the google machine, and it came back with absolutely nothing. Surely in an industry where nearly everything is a "clone" of something else, nobody is worried about licensing. And I most definitely can't be the first person to think of and desire a lightsaber mech(hopefully someday with an LED lit, colored tank). What has the world come to when an already cylindrical tech toy hasn't been made to replicate a lightsaber?

There are several custom mods out there, but I haven't seen a lightsaber one either. However, one option can be to simply use a wrap for a tube style mod. You can get them from J-wraps. The prices are pretty good, and the overall quality is quite nice. Easy to put on. You pick the style you want (they have a couple lightsaber styles), and then select the mod you want to use it on from the drop-down menu.

Other than that, I haven't seen one. I hope you find one. I think I would even pick one up if it was well done.

Lol if I had cad skills and access to a 3 axis cnc mill, it would be done already, and Id run off as many as I could every day because I know they'd sell like mad. As aluminum 3d printing picks up Id think someone would get on that too.

Manufacturing costs alone would kill a lightsaber mod (that's a pretty intricately detailed tube you're suggesting!)...combine that with being a niche product, filling a niche within an existing niche (SW fans who are also mech mod users...that's a pretty small area on the Venn diagram!).

Most (not all) of the vapers who are geeky enough to want a lightsaber mod seem to use regulated devices, and most (not all) vapers who use mechs are not really looking to up their geek cred.

Is there a market for it? Definitely! Is that market large enough to justify the existence of the product? I really have my doubts. Aluminum 3D printing would drop the manufacturing costs for something so complex, but how would it measure up against current devices with respect to conductivity and longevity? (my Materials Science course was almost a decade ago, so I'm a touch rusty on the specifics) You'll quickly end up with a $200+ mod just to cover manufacturing, and if that device doesn't perform and last like a $200+ mech, it will just end up being a display piece. And you'd have to watch out for getting sued by Disney! (Svoemesto might not be going after Kayfun clones, but Disney would definitely protect their intellectual property!)

Short answer: From a business perspective, the low potential gains are not worth the high risk.

They have been made, several pics on the googles (though none for sale). I've seen at least one made by...can't recall but I think it was Ricardomon who did the builds. They were made from gutted lightsaber toys, and still made the sounds.

I'm about positive if you got your hands on a lightsaber replica that could hold the parts, there's a person willing to convert it to an ecig.
